USE:
An alternative to medium security fence from welded mesh panels.Well suited to military, utilities and commercial sites.
SIZE:
Based on traditional standards, vertical heighted mesh up to 2.4m above ground.45°, single or double barbed wire holders, giving vertical height to top row of barbed wire, up to 2.75m high.
CLADDING:
Chain link Woven fabric up to 2.4m wide roll or 2.7m wide row with bottom 300mm buried. Other roll widths, 1.5m, 1.8m, 2m, 2.15. Mesh aperture either 50mm x 50mm or 50mm x 40mm. Wire diameter galvanised up to 3.55mm or 4.75mm outside diameter over plastic coating. There is also infrequently used, very heavy mesh 4.75mm core and 6.4mm outside diameter. Other wire sizes 2.25mm core, 3.15mm outside diameter. 2.5mm core, 3.55mm outside diameter. 3mm core, 4mm outside diameter. Top edge of chain link can have barbed finish. Bottom edge of chain link can have barbed finish, if not buried. The number of horizontal straining line wires dependent on the height of the fence, typically 4 for 2.4m wide roll.
Welded Mesh Fully welded fabric, up to 2.4m wide roll, or 2.7m wide with bottom 300mm buried. Other roll widths 1.5m and 2m. Mesh aperture 50mm x 50mm or 25mm x 75mm. The number of horizontal straining line wires dependent on the height of the fence, typically 4 for 2.4m wide roll.
POSTS:
Concrete posts are agreed in this standard but should be local manufacturer due to high transport costs. Steel posts can be of angle, rectangular or circular hollow section. The most usual is the rectangular section (RHS). The sections of the posts are dependent on the fence height but typically for 2.4m wide mesh roll:
-Intermediate posts 50mm x 50mm x 3mm wall or 4mm wall in expected heavy ice or snow loads.
-Straining posts 60mm x 60mm x 4mm with 50mm x 50mm x 3mm 45° struts.
FIXINGS:
Mesh tied to line wires with wire ties or special rings. For chain link fences top line wire threaded through mesh top aperture. All meshes in this standard to be strained by mechanical strainers.
SECURITY TO TOP OF FENCE:
Posts extended vertically for 3 rows of barbed wire at 100mm centre.
Single 45° cranked arm, 3 rows of twin strand barbed wire.
For high security fences one long dropper and two small droppers per bay.
Double 45° ‘Y’ top cranked arms, 6 rows of barbed wire and for high security fences two long droppers and four small droppers per bay.
Coiled BTC 750mm diameter fitted within the ‘Y’.

SECURITY TO BOTTOM OF FENCE:
Mesh vertically buried 300mm and ground backfilled. Concrete cill, insitu construction, 300mm x 300mm with hairpin stables cast in at 500mm centres and bottom line wire threaded through.
FINISH:
All steel components hot dipped galvanised and alternatively galvanised and plastic coated green or black.
INSTALLATION
Intermediate posts at maximum 3m centres in concrete foundation, 300mm square or 300mm diameter up to 750mm deep, depending on fence height.
Straining posts at all end positions and at changes of direction, and every 69m in straight run of fence.
